Named after its year of inception, 1887 on the Bay served as the design inspiration behind San Diego’s iconic Hotel Del Coronado.

Designed by the Reid brothers architects – the same men who designed the hotel – the Boathouse became a diminutive Del and a visual masterpiece in its own right. Throughout its history, it has served as a marine research center, boat racing center, and world-class restaurant, the last of which has remained since its creation in 1955.
